French niche line The Different Company has launched Extraits Extrêmes, a new collection of five fragrances: Crazy Tubéreuse, Gin-Seng, Gothic Incense, Maddy and Salty Kiss.
Crazy Tubéreuse ~ “Crazy Tubéreuse by The Different Company takes one of perfumery’s most fascinating and excessive flowers, the tuberose, long domesticated, long tamed, and sets it loose. […] Black pepper cuts through with almost aggressive clarity, while cold aldehydes introduce something unexpected — crystalline, faintly metallic — giving the fragrance an opening that feels startlingly contemporary. The heart is where the flower takes over. Tuberose unfolds in its most carnal, narcotic register, amplified by night-blooming jasmine whose own deep sensuality pushes the intensity further still. […] Russian leather wraps the composition in an animal, sophisticated texture, extended by styrax’s smoky, balsamic resin.” Developed by perfumer Alexandra Monet.
Gin-Seng ~ “…draws from a world rarely explored in Western niche perfumery: the botanical universe of traditional Chinese medicine, with its adaptogenic plants, its ancient healing rituals, its deep understanding of energy and stillness. […] …opens with immediate, kinetic energy. Goji berries bring a sharp, luminous tartness, while fresh ginger introduces a vibrant aromatic bite; vivid, almost electric. Basil extends this into something greener and more medicinal… […] Red ginseng unfolds with its characteristic earthy depth — rooty, tonic, grounding — softened by blue chamomile’s quiet floral warmth. Water fruits open an unexpected clarity at the composition’s centre, a moment of lightness before the base takes hold. […] Haitian vetiver brings a smoky, textured earthiness, anchoring the fragrance in something genuinely raw. A hyperconcentrated cedar amplifies the woody intensity to an almost architectural scale, bound together by a herbaceous musk that ties everything with quiet authority.” Developed by perfumer Meng Gu.Â
Gothic Incense ~ “…a world that is both urban and sacred: a city at night, where the smoke of holy woods floods into steel and concrete, where incense no longer soothes but burns. […] opens on an immediate, near-metallic contrast. Pink pepper brings a sharp, faintly fruity brightness, quickly seized by black pepper, which hardens the accord into something taut and mineral. Green spices extend this opening into colder, more herbaceous territory, almost industrial in their austerity. The heart tips into heat. Burnt cedarwood unfolds a deep, charcoal-laced texture, amplified by incense that arrives with near-liturgical weight… […] The dry-down reaches maximum intensity. Deeply concentrated smoked wood wraps everything in a heavy, persistent texture, extended by oakmoss whose damp, earthy facets evoke cold cathedral stone.” Developed by perfumer Serge de Oliveira.
Maddy ~ “Maddy by The Different Company takes one of the most universal of all sensory memories : the madeleine, that small buttery cake capable of unlocking an entire buried world, and refuses to leave it there, soft and nostalgic. […] Maddy opens with a sharp, vivid brightness. A frosted lemon zest introduces something crystalline and electric. […] A salted butter madeleine accord lands with Proustian precision — warm, creamy, faintly caramelised — immediately destabilised by aged rum, whose deep alcoholic warmth collides with the sweetness of memory. […] Vanilla pod unfolds a deep, faintly smoky warmth, wrapped by white musks in an airy, skin-close softness that lingers long past midnight.” Developed by perfumer Véronique Nyberg.
Salty Kiss ~ “Salty Kiss by The Different Company captures a moment with almost photographic precision: 4pm, sun burning the skin, sea salt crystals evaporating on warm shoulders, and a sudden, irresistible craving for something sweet. […] opens on Sea salt crystals which introduce a dry, iodic quality that feels almost tactile : the sensation of skin just out of the water, faintly rough, already warm from the sun. […] Salted butter caramel brings a rich, creamy warmth whose sweetness is immediately tempered by pecan, adding a toasted, faintly bitter texture of quiet sophistication. […] The dry-down settles into its most enveloping register. Crunchy speculoos extends the spiced, biscuity facet with elegance, while white musks bind everything in an airy, skin-close softness.” Developed by perfumer Christiano Canali.
The Different Company Crazy Tubéreuse, Gin-Seng, Gothic Incense, Maddy and Salty Kiss are available in 10 and 50 ml Extrait de Parfum.
