Headspace Parfums has a beautifully curated perfume line, from the impressive Eau de Parfums and the recent Extrait Series composed by Julien Rasquinet. Each perfume holds a unique headspace through which the perfumers compose their fragrances giving us memorable olfactive experiences that are a pleasure to wear. Tabac by perfumer Julien Rasquinet takes you deep inside a dark cosy coffee shop where you are reading a book, yet it’s if it becomes your own story. Rose by Dominique Ropion captures a moment of rupture, as if a bullet collides with a rose, while Acacia (also by Julien Rasquinet) feels like the poetry of a warm spring day and nature in bloom.

Headspace Parfums Tabac Extrait (Julien Rasquinet) 2025: Perfumer Julien Rasquinet, captures the complex aromas that waft through a dimly lit coffee shop as fresh beans are ground and brewed for your pleasure. Conversations fade into soft murmurs as you immerse yourself in the pages of your book, allowing the rich scents of cigarettes and coffee to envelop you. I love how the coffee is used here, from bean to brew giving you a full experience of coffee and the space its crafted in. Tabac’s coffee has a sprinkling of ginger giving a freshly brewed warmth with a creamy spice as it blends into tonka bean’s milky facets, teasing out hints of gingerbread. Imagine the smooth texture of a latte’s foam as it caresses your lips, and you’ll understand how Tabac feels on your skin and in the surrounding air. Tonka bean and hay create the sensation of reaching into a tobacco pouch, its deep and complex scents offering a counterpoint of cigarette rolling papers. It contrasts beautifully against the lightly powdery tobacco notes from the hay and the delicious tonka bean with its vanilla lactonic tones enhance the coffee’s richness.

Tabac wraps around you, pulling you in as you lose yourself in your book, drowning out the afternoon clamour. A sprinkle of chocolate whispers as more vanilla emerges, allowing the subtle leathery notes of tobacco leaves —like your leather jacket, which is draped over your chair. You can feel the soft ember of clove of the cigarettes still glowing, deep and dark but not ashy. Tabac captures for me that delicious fresh cigarillo scent, slight vanillic with a creamy density, paired beautifully with coffee. While the tonka bean lends Tabac a sophisticated touch, hinting at a dark Fougère, there’s a whisper of lavender’s aromatic freshness mingling with the rich tobacco and woody vanilla scent which gives a subtle smokiness. The hay amplifies this sensation, making Tabac hum on my skin like a gentle haze. Tabac is warm and sweet yet carries an air of mystery shrouded in a haze of coffee and cigarettes. Tabac is a novel that plays out over your skin, revealing its addictive story throughout the wear. A beautiful creation by Julien Rasquinet, elegant, refined, and sophisticated. A perfume that feels like a bit of me.

Headspace Parfums Rose (Dominique Ropion) 2025: Master Perfumer Dominique Ropion captures a moment of rupture, a bullet shot through a rose. Headspace Rose feels like we’re smelling this moment of destruction in super slow-motion. Ropion uses the ‘headspace’ of gunpowder as a counterpoint to explode and explore the secrets hidden within the luxurious petals of this fresh cool green rose. In its opening, Headspace Rose radiates with a rich, juicy blackcurrant fruitiness, enhanced by tarragon and liquorice giving it a fullness and depth, letting the herbal creamy spices prevent it from becoming overly sweet. There is a bite of something wild. This greenness forms a cool neon light drawing out the sensual velvet rose petals, enveloping you in a refreshing minty chill. Bang! Suddenly a sharp aromatic cuts through the dark sweetness and greens. A shock of silver bites through the Rose with gunpowder’s essence of dry, cool metallic aromas shimmering and sear the Rose’s bud. A slow a drip of tangy blackcurrant bud and tarragon emerges glowing with a fiery hint of clove from basil with a touch of camphor feeling like smoke at the entry point. The neon green aromatic petals of the rose feel atomised in this moment, then slowed down to play out for the rest of the wear, letting the dark rich berry fruit and herbal floral heart glow as the story grows.

Headspace Rose remains firmly in the aromatic realm, with geranium and an enticing spiced incense adds an air of mystery. The combination of mint and basil creates a dry smokiness reminiscent of a powdery green, with mint’s camphor accentuating the soft, velvety texture of the petals, while the greens evoke a metallic sheen. The perfume’s rose blooms again from this rupture, reforming in a light of cool aromatics and herbs, with the creamy aspect of basil shaping the petals, as fresh citruses linger behind the cool notes, hinting at the fresh yet creamy smoky frankincense. The intense clove spice from basil blends into a neon green geranium-spiced rose, causing its heart to radiate as the darker elements begin to mellow. Lighter tones gradually fade to the periphery, imparting a cool, iridescent, diffusive freshness to Headspace Rose, shimmering with a deeper intensity, beautifully contrasting with the softer, more floral rosy facets. The sensation of dry gunpowder incense smoke and soft woody notes linger around the light musky edges, creating an abstract feeling as they blend into delicate florals. The dry down reveals a stunning rose incense infused with geranium, highlighting the rich nuances of basil until benzoin takes the lead. There’s a subtle vanillic creaminess that isn’t immediately apparent, but blooms as more of a woody character emerges, providing depth. Vetiver leans into this soft, comforting woodiness as the incense sparkles with the green floral spices of geranium. It unfolds letting its cool beauty haunt the air, swirling in enigmatic floral woody incense smoke, bathed in a neon green light. Rose has a cool veil that wraps around its aromatic rose with a dusky sweetness at its core, a moment of destruction forming a stunning perfume. A moment in time starched out giving us a space to dream.

Headspace Parfums Acacia Extrait (Julien Rasquinet) 2025: Acacia captures mimosa in full bloom, just as the first sunbeams of spring coax its flowers to blossom. If Tabac was a novel, Acacia feels more like poetry, as Julien Rasquinet sculpts materials instead of words into a delicate and exquisite perfume form. You can feel the warmth of that first springtime sun on your skin as you wear Acacia, radiating a floral vanilla glow that exudes elegance and grace. Poetry in motion. Acacia unfurls in bittersweet tones, as a delicious berry and plum liqueur effervesces on your skin. Hints of herbal chartreuse greens and fruity dark purple brandy aromas envelope you in a golden glow of dark vanilla rum. It’s complimented by honeyed aromas, which, along with the herbal greens, gives Acacia a complex, mouthwatering richness that pairs beautifully with the bittersweet notes of davana. Its scent feels relaxed and comforting, flowing through your nose as you sense the mimosa beginning to bloom from this delectable cocktail.

You can sense the subtle dryness of the mimosa flower, tonka bean adds a slightly crunchy yet delicate texture. Imagine a sensation somewhere between dry rice and powder, then suddenly, the soft, misty essence of the stunning mimosa gently envelops you. Visions of dappled sunlight filtering through trees swaying softly in the breeze; the poetry of nature is held within Acacia. Julien Rasquinet has crafted a remarkable mimosa accord here, encapsulating the ‘headspace’ of experiencing this delicate yellow flower. The nuances of honeyed tones maintain the warmth of the boozy opening, while the tonka bean and plum fruits transition into a bitter almond cherry fruitiness. He also captures the light, airy greenery surrounding the flower, with violet leaves contributing a hint of lushness and pale woods, allowing the mimosa to breathe as a refreshing whisper of cucumber feels like the lips of spring air brushing against your skin. Acacia exudes refinement, creating a powdery mist as golden particles sparkle in the soft sunlight. The coolness dissipates letting the tonka bean emerge, signaling the next phase in the life of this flower and perfume. As we reach the final dry down, Acacia’s mimosa blossoms become fragile and crumble into a softly smoky woody vanilla, enveloping your skin in a veil of floral powder. It nods to soft powdery perfumes of the past, yet Julien Rasquinet modernizes Acacia. Ghostly vapours of boozy rum opening linger at the edges, adding a rich shimmer of warm light to the creamy sandalwood and vanilla, while opoponax’s balsamic notes glisten like memories of captured sunlight fragments. It also introduces a hint of smokiness to the woody vanilla, adding depth as the sandalwood transforms the flower’s petals into plush velvet The coumarin aspect of tonka bean enhances this sensation, capturing the tender texture of the mimosa flowers as they dry. The floral amber feels exquisite on your skin. Acacia is perfume poetry.
