It’s Tuesday and National Tea Day (celebrated in the UK on Queen Elizabeth’s birthday). More birthdays: Charlotte Brontë, Iggy Pop. What fragrance are you wearing?
I’m honoring Gaultier’s sailor obsession, admittedly without the tongue-in-cheek humor, in Comptoir Sud Pacifique L’Eau du Gouverneur. Tea at the moment is my own Earl Grey blend (Numi Aged Earl Grey + Upton Extra Bergamot Earl Grey + pinch of Harney French Super Blue Lavender + pinch of Upton Lapsang Souchong Imperial), which I keep in my Jean Paul Gaultier + Kusmi tin.
Reminder: on 4/24, celebrate Jean Paul Gaultier’s birthday by wearing one of his fragrances. If you don’t have one, wear anything that you think works with the JPG aesthetic, or maybe a fragrance that you’d put in a torso-shaped bottle? Or, as usual, be as creative and/or farfetched as you like with the theme. [More reading: The Utopian Vision of Jean Paul Gaultier at HyperAllergic, What Jean-Paul Gaultier Will Be Remembered For in Fashion at Frenchly, Jean Paul Gaultier, Master of Spectacle at Interview, Jean Paul Gaultier: Get to Know the History Behind The Designer at L’Officiel, When Jean-Paul Gaultier was creative director of Hermès at NSS.]
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I’ll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
