Mitti Parfum Rani-Pink via the brand
Mitti Parfum’s story is born of love and a longing for the scents of home for self-taught perfumer Neerav Thakkar and Founder and Creative Director Ridhima Agarwal (they are married). Now living in the USA but born and raised in India, where scent is everywhere, bold and layered, they were looking for fragrances that reminded them of home. Spiced chai, monsoon rains on the dry earth, jasmine, and other florals. What started as a search and suggestion became a partnership: two creative minds working together to recreate memories of their heritage and culture into beautiful, honest fragrances. Each perfume is a memory made definite and reads like a travelogue of their homeland. The compositions don’t imitate India and South Asia; they inhabit them, offering the small domestic rituals and regional consistencies of someone who grew up inside them and how they are remembered. Neerav and Ridhima created Mitti Parfum to share and preserve those memories. (Mitti means soil or earth.)

The creativity behind the logo is sacred and symbolic, and the packaging is exquisite: Batik-print boxes, and each fragrance comes with a mini folk-art card rooted and inspired by art from a different corner of the country. On the back of the art is a beautifully written introduction to the fragrance and its notes. And the bottles are crafted and chosen with the same care, simple, gorgeous glass, and the cap! On the back of each one is etched a handwritten poem from the brand. Mitti Parfums is a love story, an archive translated into perfumes that are at once intimate and generous. Wear one, and you meet a memory, a tradition.

Mitti Parfum Rani-Pink takes you mindfully through time with a distinct intention, from the blink of childhood to the steady breath of adulthood, without ever feeling disconnected. Sour berry bright and impulsive, a sensory cue that sends your mind back. Its sweetness is the exact quality of being small and fully present, happiness that doesn’t analyze itself. That initial lift is Rani-Pink’s promise that the child inside you is acknowledged and invited forward.

Rani-Pink doesn’t abandon any of that childlike spark; it translates it, woven through with spice, and the tang of a plum-wine note from davana adds a new facet to the initial berry note. As it dries down, it becomes an unfolding story with nuance, a shift from innocence to discovery, then to becoming. Vanilla and cedarwood bring depth, maturity, and the adult perspective, sensual and composed. The shifts register gracefully, playful where appropriate, poised when needed, which reflects how today we often carry our younger selves into mature roles without losing either.

Mitti Parfum Rani-Pink is an olfactory analogue of growing up, not erasing the past but giving it form and meaning. There’s also a narrative voice embedded in the composition, not a generic voice but a personal one. It is a memory refined by affection, honoring uncertainty, accepting that sweetness can coexist with resolve, and that maturity may deepen rather than reduce wonder. It offers a fragrant way to remember that once we were carefree, but that we have learned to choose, to discern, and to savor each moment with intention.
