Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 + Champaca ~ new fragrance :: Now Smell This

Niche line Escentric Molecules has launched Molecule 01 + Champaca, a new woody floral variation on 2005’s Molecule 01 (Iso E Super).

Iso E Super is an abstract synthetic molecule characterised as a cedarwood note with a warm, woody, velvety cocooning sensation.

Champaca is an absolute extracted from the red champaca flower, found only in India. One of the most expensive ingredients in perfumery, champaca absolute is one of the richest, most faceted floral materials in perfumery, with shades of jasmine and orange blossom, touches of tea, and a soft creaminess that unfolds in waves.

Together, Iso E Super and champaca form an unexpected harmony: the weightless transparency of Iso E Super against the intricate opulence of champaca. A radiant opening with hints of orange blossom brightness gives way to a heart that is lush, floral, woody, and quietly intoxicating, before settling into the smooth, woody embrace of Molecule 01.

“I was overwhelmed when I first smelled champaca absolute with Molecule 01. Champaca absolute and Iso E Super form an amazing amalgamation, because they are very contrary. Champaca absolute has so many facets. It’s so rich. There’s so much happening in it. The complexity of champaca absolute complements Iso E Super exceptionally well on its own. Because Iso E Super has these very woody yet transparent, very velvety, very cocooning, soft aspects, and then you have champaca, giving it all this complexity, all these different olfactory sensations” says Geza Schoen.
